From Raymond W. Stock
Developer of the Bactifeed Soil Treatment System
The Bactifeed Soil Treatment System focuses on the biological, organic and nutrient value of your soil. As we build these vital systems in soil structure we have found that most other problems will be reduced or go away all together, making a healthier growing environment for plant growth.
What we do is not new, farmers have been incorporating some sort of biological or organic practices into to their farming for years. Some of the most common practices include the application of manures and compost. Over the years there have been many products developed that will stimulate biological activity and / or apply organic acids to the soil.
After working with many of these products for over 20 years I have seen many promising results produced in varying degrees with each of them.
In 2004, at the request of several of the farmers I had been working with, I was asked to combine what I had learned over the years and develop a system that would produce faster results, address most soil problems, cost less per acre and was easy to apply.
The results are the Bactifeed Soil Treatment Systems, a program that allows a farmer to produce and apply hundreds of gallons of a liquid rich in biologically active microorganisms on every acre, through the irrigation water.

Satisfied clients talk about Bactifeed organic biological soil conditioner
The experiences our clients have had using Bactifeed organic bacteriological soil conditioner on farms, golf courses and gardens
"We started with Bactifeed on a new seeding of Alfalfa. The field had a huge bare spot where alfalfa would not survive due to high alkalinity and very poor water penetration.
With the Bactifeed Soil System, water penetration was dramatically improved -- the bare spots are half their original size and the entire crop looks more healthy.
Bactifeed turned a marginal field into a productive one."
James E., Nevada
"We made 6 tons more on our corn that we grow at the dairy from the manure water. We have never made so much corn from manure water, and the feed values were as good as our clean water corn. I believe we can elevate both production and quality and we will be applying bactifeed on all of our corn next year."
Terry B., Arizona
"I first used Bactifeed on my cool season grass under pivot irrigation. This was 2010 and it was going to be my last summer for the grass because of compaction and water intake issues.
After the second application, my crop scout asked me what I was doing to the grass because he was able to probe a full 3 ft of soil moisture. Previously, 1 ft was considered good after an irrigation pass.
Now, 5 crop years later, I am still producing hay and grazing my cattle on the same grass stand without any compaction or water intake issues.
Based upon the success I had with the grass, I have been using Bactifeed for 3 yrs on all my irrigated corn and wheat. It has changed my operation because I can intensely graze irrigated wheat, and then no-till corn into it with NO water intake issue.
The increased crop production and pounds of beef taken off my farm have increased my profitability."
Paul B., Kansas
"I have been the compost manager at the Fairfax Companies' Compost production facility for 3 years. During that time, I have had considerable experience with Bactifeed because we use it to produce compost 365 days a year.
I have found that it is very easy to use, and by varying the concentration rates, I can produce high grade quality compost in as little as 16 weeks, and when our demand is not so great, I can reduce the concentration to manage our inventory and still have a high quality compost.
Because our compost is loaded with microbes, the demand for it has grown every season.
We consistently maintain 30 piles of compost. When I first took over this facility, we turned the yard over once or twice a year. Now we turn the yard over 5-8 times a year, and that is a lot of compost and we will have to expand the facility to keep up with the demand."
Mike W., Compost Manager, Fairfax Companies
"Corn is not routinely grown near us in Yuma, Arizona, in spite of the state's largest feed cattle facility being located here. This is largely due to the fact that the depleted soils around Yuma cannot sustain corn production to the break even point.
The average yield for corn silage on farms around here is 23 tons / acre, and the break even point with Bactifeed is 28 tons to the acre.
In cooperation with the feed yard, we decided to give corn another try, hoping that the boost from Bactifeed would propel the production beyond the break even point. We were planting in some very depleted soils, and for one test plot we were not able to use compost to help build the soil profile.
Even the field where we didn't use compost yielded 34.5 tons to the acre, 23% greater than the BEP, resulting in a positive return of nearly $300 / acre.
On ground where we were allowed to use compost, we came in at 44.5 tons to theacre. We are still waiting on a couple hundred acres to be adjusted for the moisture weight, but at present, it conservatively looks like 36 tons / acre.
We harvested very healthy corn and the RFV (Relative Feed Values) reflect that.
The feedyard has already decided to significantly expand production of locally grown corn by doubling the acreage of corn production for next year, and we will be using Bactifeed on all of it."
R.C.G., Yuma, Arizona
"We first tested Bactifeed on some of our irrigated soybean fields. I was very pleased with the performance of the plants.
Also, my crop agronomist noticed that the soybeans grown on the treated areas had a better moisture profile using the same amount of water, and the soil was more mellow.
Because of the increased yield of my soybeans and the improved soil conditions that we got from the test, I am now using Bactifeed on all of our soybean fields, and we're also using it on my irrigated alfalfa. Next season I plan to expand my use to irrigated corn and silage as well."
Stan B., Kansas
"This year our soil performed better than in any year past. The turf matured faster and was better quality with a lot less fertilizer used."
Russell K., Nevada
"I planted alfalfa on 15 May of this year on a pivot and used a double rate of Bactifeed on every watering.
Here in Roswell, our average Alfalfa production is 6 tons per acre on 6 cuts. In 90 days I cut the brand new hay twice, making 2.8 tons per acre with three cuts left on the schedule.
We don't expect much from first year hay because it struggles so much, but getting it in the ground usually means the second year will be productive, and we typically plant in the fall for that reason. Making 2.8 tons of alfalfa in 90 days, from seed to bale, is a first in my 30 years of farming."
Cody B., New Mexico
"I was encouraged by the results that Bactifeed showed on my ranch. The water penetration was improved through the biological interaction with the soil and showed improvements in production.
Another visible result was the faster recovery of the plants in the field before the water had even been around the pivot.
The average down time between cuttings is 8-9 days and before the water would make the first revolution around the pivot, the alflalfa was showing green leaves and growing vigorously without the aid of water. Previously the fields would not show such growth until the second time the pivot came around. In some instances, we saw greener hay and tonnage increases. We feel it is quite obvious that each pivot reacted to the Bactifeed in different but positive ways.
We saw improvement in leaf color to a darker green with Bactifeed and some of our customers saw tremendous improvement in quantity as well as quality."
Kenny C., Oregon
"In 2012, my irrigated corn crop was beginning to “flash” due to compaction from previous grazing as well as the top sealing off from repeated irrigation applications when I came across Bactifeed.
I immediately applied Bactifeed and soon had the good fortune of receiving a 3" rain. Fortunately, the soil was "opened up" by the Bactifeed and I had hardly any runoff from the big rain.
What I thought was going to be a wreck turned into a very good crop of over 200 bu / acre.
I am now using Bactifeed on all my irrigated acres. Due to very limited water, I plant wheat and triticale for grazing, and then no till irrigated corn and silage into circles I have enough water to irrigate through the summer.
Since using Bactifeed, the most exciting change I have seen is the consistency of my yields across all my acres. Previously, due to the limited water and slope of some of my fields, there were significant variances from the high spots and low spots in my circles. Last year, all my irrigated corn acres were within 5-10 bushels of one another.
This will be my 3rd crop cycle using Bactifeed and I have no plans to quit it. I can’t afford to."
Steve N., Kansas
"Our golf course has continually saved water and we have been able to significantly reduce our fertilizer program since we began using Bactifeed. We are able to capture the monsoon downpours (which may only last an hour) but now it does not run off, puddle, and pond, so the course can be played the same day and usually get the carts off the path much sooner.
Since the soil absorbs the fresh rain water, we are able to shut down our irrigation water (which is reclaimed water) for several days after a rain event. One inch of fresh rainwater seems to equal out to about 8-9 inches of reclaimed water."
Ann J., City of Tucson
"To make this as short as possible let me tell you the results of the first year. My alfalfa production increased by 10%. The crop looked and was healthier. Lastly and getting more important each year, it seems, I used a lot less water. How can that be you ask? Bactifeed helped break down the surface tension of the soil allowing water, fertilizer, etc. to soak deeply into the root zone quickly, hence less water is needed."
"I produced on average one ton more per year on the same fields and I did this on one less watering (irrigation)..."
Carl O., Utah
"I compared Bactifeed to its closest competitor, and Bactifeed proved itself in more ways than one. In spite of having a tough year because of high winds destroying my windrows and rain, I still had 10% increase in hay production. I am now using Bactifeed exclusively and most of my neighbors have made the same change."
Doug J., Nevada
"We have realized over 100 acre feet of water savings in one of the hottest years recorded (2012), while improving the playing surface and increasing the numbers of rounds played."
Carlos H., City of Tucson
"Sunland Springs Village has been using Bactifeed on our golf course for approximately one year and we have noted the following results.
The first thing I noticed about my grass is that it seemed to be healthy and had a vibrant color for the grass. Transition had improved vastly and the change from one grass to the other took less time. The rye grass seemed to come in better for the grow in time and everything looked greener. As for water savings, this year I expect to use less water to keep the course greener.
My overall opinion is that this is a good investment for Farnsworth Golf Company, and I will continue to use this product in the future."
Bill K., Sunland Springs Village Golf Course, Mesa, Arizona
"I started using Bactifeed as a spray on spot treatment on one hole, a problem hole that no one had been able to fix. Water would puddle or run off and would not penetrate the surface. After 3 applications, water was soaking in, and my first thought was, "how fast can I get this on the rest of my golf course."
Jose R., Red Mountain Ranch Country Club, Mesa, Arizona
"I've been a golf course superintendent in Southern Arizona for over 25 years, and I've never seen a product as effective as Bactifeed.
We began using Bactifeed in August and we had the best overseed I've ever seen. Even though we used less expensive seed, we used less fertilizer and less water. How much less? We've used 46% less water than was used this time last year.
Even before the overseed I noticed improvement on the bare areas on the fringe of the greens -- they were actually starting to fill in -- and the driving range and other areas that brown up during summer actually maintained their color and health, even with the higher temps and water reduction."
Dave H., Fred Enke Municipal Golf Course, Tucson, Arizona
"We started using Bactifeed in December of 2009. We had not had a very good overseed in Sept 2009 due to financial issues and we were still very brown from a very hot summer.
We noticed several things almost immediately when we started using the Bactifeed; the course began turning green and brown spots started filling in with grass. We no longer had water puddling in the fairways from sprinklers and the few rains we had, the water actually went into the ground and did not run off the course. This was very helpful in keeping the course open and allowing carts off the paths to keep the course moving, as well as giving us the chance to give the irrigation system a break for several days after a monsoon rain.
We also were able to keep the course GREEN without being able to use any fertilizer and when the hot months came in April, May and June, our peak times of water use, we had a greener course while reducing our water use by 20%. We had more rounds played by June 2010 than total rounds in 2009 and 2008 combined."
Rick D., Arizona National Golf Course, Tucson, Arizona
"We started using Bactifeed as a spray on spot treatment as a test. It dramatically improved the trial area and after two spray on applications, our driving range looked better than it had in a long time.
We're now using Bactifeed in our irrigation system for the entire golf course."
Terry F., Mission Royale Golf Course, Casa Grande, Arizona
